Lisa L. Rollins, Ph.D., is a Texas-born freelance writer and journalism educator whose articles have appeared in Country Weekly, Twang, Country America and American Profile, among other magazines.

Prior to joining academe in 1997, she worked as a full-time journalist, editor and columnist for several publications, including the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and BUDDY: The Original Texas Music Magazine.

An award-winning print and broadcast journalist, Rollins has been a member of the Society of Professional Journalists (founded as Sigma Delta Chi), the largest organization for professional journalists, since 1987. She also served as a Representative at Large and as Region XII director on its national board.

Although she has diverse writing interests, Rollins especially enjoys education-related features and entertainment/music journalism. Regarding the latter, she's interviewed artists such as The Statler Brothers, Garth Brooks, Gene Watson, Alice Cooper, Poison, Travis Tritt, the Black Crowes, Josh Turner, Lady Antebellum, Charley Pride, Jason Aldean, Queensryche, Dwight Yoakam, Tommy Cash and Pantera, as well as comedian/actor Jerry Seinfeld, celebrated cookbook author Mark Bittman, celebrity designer Michael Payne and actor Jon Cryer, among many others.

Rollins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism, with minors in anthropology and business; a Master of Science degree in mass communication; and an Education Specialist degree in higher education/administration and supervision. She completed her Ph.D. in higher education, with research interests in media convergence in the undergraduate journalism curricula. She currently teaches journalism and serves as chairwoman of the communication department at a U.S. university.
